Dealing with the Texas Climate

Since the wedding is outdoors in one of the hot summer months, we thought it beneficial to provide you with information about putting mother nature under your own devices.

The first and most obvious issue would be heat and sun. We will have all of the guests shaded from the sun and put under fanning from several different places. Water will also be served frequently as well. A short ceremony will also work into the advantage of beating the heat, and David and Karen's will only last 20 minutes. Despite this, it is essential to wear clothing of light and breathable fabric that does not fit too closely. While the ladies should feel comfortable in a light dress or blouse, the men may have more difficulty. Ties can constrict airflow and are not necessary if you wear business casual dress attire or a suit coat. If suit coats go against your personal preference, we do ask that you wear a tie with your outfit. Also, bear in mind that a hankerchief or fan could also be useful in removing sweat and beating the heat.

Allergies are also high during certain points of the summer. If you are allergic, especially to cedar or pollen, please take care to use medication. The hill country air is beautiful, but also very volatile if sensitive to allergies.

If from New York, keep in mind that the sun is substantially more intense and direct in Texas than it is in New York. Make sure to wear sun screen at all hours of the day to avoid burning.
