Dealing with the Texas Climate

Since the wedding is outdoors in one of the hot summer months, we thought it beneficial to provide you with information about putting mother nature under your own devices.

The first and most obvious issue would be heat and sun. We will have all of the guests shaded from the sun and put under fanning from several different places. Water will also be served frequently as well. A short ceremony will also work into the advantage of beating the heat, and David and Karen's will only last 20 minutes. Despite this, it is essential to wear clothing of light and breathable fabric that does not fit too closely. While the ladies should feel comfortable in a light dress or blouse, the men may have more difficulty. Ties can constrict airflow and are not necessary if you wear business casual dress attire or a suit coat. If suit coats go against your personal preference, we do ask that you wear a tie with your outfit. Also, bear in mind that a hankerchief or fan could also be useful in removing sweat and beating the heat.

Allergies are also high during certain points of the summer. If you are allergic, especially to cedar or pollen, please take care to use medication. The hill country air is beautiful, but also very volatile if sensitive to allergies.

If from New York, keep in mind that the sun is substantially more intense and direct in Texas than it is in New York. Make sure to wear sun screen at all hours of the day to avoid burning.

Wedding Location and Directions

Google Maps will be the best way for you to find directions and detailed maps of the greater San Antonio area. The location is a residential suburb, so parking will be on the sides of the road in front of and around the house. However, some parking may be available at a church near the house, but we are still working on that option.

The address of the Wedding and Reception Location is:

The Waitz Residence
24919 Flying Arow
San Antonio, TX 78258

David and Karen will be wed on the property of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Waitz. This location contains a wonderful, lush garden and a pool with serene waterfall and atmosphere. This wedding will of course be outdoors, meaning that one should be prepared for allergies associated with flowers and the outdoors, July heat in Texas (even though the ceremony is near sunset), and the fact that Hors D'oeurves, not dinner, will be served.

The time of the Wedding and Recption will be:

Start: 7:45pm through roughly 11:00 pm

Please conatact us at d.t.blaser@gmail.com or KarenWaitz@letu.edu with any questions.

Reception Information

The reception will be held directly after the ceremony at the same location as the wedding, on Karen's fragrant and colorful home property. There will be dancing, for those of you that are musically inclined, delicious food, and celebration with family and friends. Both of our families enjoy observing special occasions in an exuberant fashion, and we hope that you will be able to stay after the ceremony to join us. If alcohol is a question for you, it will not be served at the wedding and we ask that you please do not bring your own.

Registry Help

Both Bed, Bath, and Beyond are linked on the sidebar. However, if these links end up not working, there are other ways to access the registries online. Go to either Target's or Bed, Bath, and Beyond's websites, by clinking their names, which are linked. Once at the website, there should be a banner or link for wedding registries, click this link. A search will come up. You can search for either "Karen Waitz" or "David Blaser" and it will bring up our names and registry. Then you will be able to browse through remaining objects from either store.
